Apply for a Credit Card
Do you always wait till payday to buy something you need? A credit card comes
handy when you’re in between paychecks. Credit cards are not meant only for
those who are in need of a little extra cash. For the fact that credit cards
provide convenience and security for shopping online and offline, anyone should
have at least one credit card.
Shop Around Before Applying
Applying for a credit card is like shopping. Picking the first one you see may
not ensure the best deal. Research on the Web to choose the one you will not
regret later. You should not get stuck with an annual fee, high interest rate
and no reward, even if you have no established credit history. You will be
surprised that many cards with good benefits are often issued to first-time
card holders. Why settle for less?
The Rule of One
You should not apply for more than one card in a six month period, in order to
keep your credit report clean. The fewer inquiries it shows, the better your
chance is to get approved. If you are denied for a card, you should not reapply
for the same one until six months later. In short, apply for one card only and
apply only once every six months.
Mail vs. Web Applications
There are three ways to submit an application for a credit card. Before the
World Wide Web, individuals wishing to have a card as quickly as possible chose
to apply by phone. However, it is no longer safe to mention personal
information like social security number and address over the phone because of
increasing number of identity fraud incidents. Although mail application takes
up to three weeks, it can be an alternative if one does not have access to a
computer with secure Internet connection. Secure online application is the best
method because it is fast, and in most cases, you will know the result right
away.
